For the gigging guitarist or bassist, the CHROMATIC TUNER TU300 is an absolutely essential piece of gear that goes above and beyond the capabilities of ordinary tuners.

Sing A Different Tune

Most guitarists and bassists tune to standard tuning: (low to high) E, A, D, G, B, E for guitar and E, A, D, G for bass. Still others like to detune their instruments for access to lower notes and increased string flexibility. No matter what you prefer, the TU300 can accommodate. That’s because this crucial stomp box gives you three guitar modes (regular, flat, double flat), three bass modes (regular, flat, double flat) and a chromatic setting. Whether you stay in standard tuning, detune, or tune to an exotic tuning of your own design, the TU300 will get you there quickly and accurately.

It’s Easy!

To begin tuning, simply stomp the TU300’s footswitch. It features a precise single-digit LED display to tell you what note it’s reading, and the 11-point stream guarantees accurate tuning from 438 Hz to 447 Hz. Plus it is bright enough to help you tune up in even the darkest club. The main OUT allows you to cut the signal to your amp while you tune, or you can send a constant signal from the BYPASS output. The status LED tells you when this box is activated and the solid electronic on/off switch maintains incredible signal integrity in bypass mode. You can power this pedal with a 9 V battery or a DC power supply.

5 reviews for Behringer CHROMATIC TUNER TU300 Ultimate Guitar/Bass Tuner, Grey

  1. Chiabatta

Good pedal, does what it should and sounds good too. For the kind of music I play I need a range of sounds from 50’s rockabilly to 60s and 70s rock, with a little country and jazz thrown in. This pedal will replicate these sounds quite well. This is the 3rd Behringer pedal I’ve bought and they are very good for the money.
Great way to add new sounds to your bag of tricks.

I picked this up as a replacement for a stolen Crybaby, being a guitarist on a budget, the price appealed to me. I did my research, read reviews and watched youtube videos on the Hellbabe, and was convinced to try it. For 40 bucks, how could I go wrong ?

It’s not a bad pedal, not at all. It does what it says it does, but it’s not without flaws. For example, the pedal itself does not have much range. The overall tone of the Hellbabe is fine, but the limited range of motion on the pedal itself severely limits your “sweep”. There are mods that can be done which are beyond the scope of my review but if you Google “Behringer Hellbabe mods” you can find a few things you can do to improve the pedals range of motion and overall tone as well. I will probably try them, as really the only thing stopping me from giving this pedal more stars is these issues.

The fact that you can dial in the frequency range is a nice touch, and for that alone this pedal is worth the price of admission. I also dig the fact that you can really fine tune the frequency response of the wah with the “Q” and the “Fine Tune” knobs. This gives you more control over the tone than your typical wah. The boost is kind of useless though, I do not notice much increase in volume even with the boost dialed all the way up. BUT, since I get my lead boost from a TS9 Tubescreamer, I can’t really say that this is a problem for me. I didn’t buy it for the boost feature, so I’m not upset that it doesn’t do much for me.
I also really like the whole “step on, step off” feature. One thing I didn’t care for about my Crybaby is having to rock the pedal all the way forward and then press down to engage the wah, since the wah was activated that way, rocking it back usually caused me to start sweeping in reverse and it sounded funky. With this, I step on it, do my thing and step off and it’s out of the signal path. Speaking of that, I haven’t noticed any “tone suck”, like some users have mentioned. When it’s off my tone is my tone, and when it’s on, it does what I need it to do then gets out of the way.

I bought this pedal because I always heart that Tube Screamers were great for making an amp’s distortion sound even tighter and heavier sounding when used as a level booster. This pedal did not disappoint when combined with my Orange Micro-Terror amp that I have running into a Dean Markley 4×12 cabinet. The amp by itself sounds fantastic and it could “chug” a little bit by itself. it wasn’t ideal, but it sounded good with a very unique sounding but rich distortion. This pedal however took that overdrive to the next level and made the distortion vastly tighter sounding where palm muted “chugging” sounded absolutely massive and very very tight sounding. It also just made the distortion richer sounding when the gain on the pedal is set to about 10% and with the tone and level knobs on the pedal maxed out.

  4. Hughes

I know ‘real’ guitarists use more expensive tuners that are probably more accurate or whatever but this thing sounds good enough to my ears. When I think I’m out of tune, the pedal agrees. When I think I’m in tune, the pedal says I’m just a little sharp.

Build quality is a little cheap but you knew that going in. If I keep playing and get more serious, I’ll buy a better tuner but for novices this will work just fine.

  5. Mark Meyering

I needed a decent modeling solution between my pedal cluster and a dead clean amp. This modeling pedal is really good for the price, and I highly recommend the tweed setting. The other (non-tweed) models are just way too over the top for my taste, uncontrollable gain structures, end up harsh and muddy. You can play with the switches to emulate different mic placement and speaker selections, quite articulate and useful. Adjust the knobs to suit your pickups, I’m, getting sweet tone using Strat singles and Les Paul humbuckers. To tailor the gain and overdrive (when needed) I use an El Hombre and a Klon clone upstream of the Behringer. The tweed is sweet.
