I’m a big fan of Creative products. My favorite set of headphones is the Creative H3 for for music listening. I use a creative external sound card for my home theater to convert optical out from a game console to stereo. I like their products because in general that are highly optimized for listening enjoyment, reliable, and the sound is VERY clear. Creative hates distortion and you can tell by the quality of the sound in their products.

Bluetooth is really convenient for those who hate messing with wires, and after using several different brands of powerful little Bluetooth speakers, wireless is the undisputed winner over low-wattage wired extension speakers commonly available for use with a PC. Good Bluetooth speakers notably achieve a full sound and excellent clarity, and are readily available as portable, rechargeable units. But the cost is rather steep if they turn out to be unusable.

It seems to me that a set of desktop speakers is naturally going to be a compromise at one level or another (performance vs. price). Given that, desktop speakers come in wide variations including the inexpensive small typical two speaker or a 2.0 set like these. To expensive speakers systems of various costs and sizes. Some of which are Hi FI full range speakers costing as much as some home stereo speakers. I wanted a reasonably priced set of speakers that would do a good job (fully expecting limitations) reproducing music, and have been happy with this set. My demands were that I wanted something that I could listen to casually without being too critical, but that would be at least fairly accurate reproducing music and audio. My goal was to find at least some transparency, along with dynamics and clarity that was not going to be in the hundreds of dollars and so far these speakers are a doing a decent job. I might upgrade these in the future, but I feel for the price, size and form factor these are an excellent buy.

I’ve owned a few hi-fi systems, have done studio recording, and have performed with live bands. I work from home now and spend all day in front of a computer. As somebody who has been around music and sound most of my life, I would strongly recommend against having powerful, punchy, and accurate monitors for extended listening at your computer desk. You can very easily suffer hearing damage, over time. I believe that Creative Labs T20 speakers are the ideal size and power to be pointing at your ears, from just a few feet away, for hours on end. The volume (which also turns them on and off), bass, and treble knobs on the front of the right speaker are ideal for easily adjusting for different sound sources. They also have a headphone out right below the knobs. This is an exceptional design for convenience. They are narrow and tall, which can be helpful if you have limited desk space. They have a supple midrange and a laid back sound, while still remaining detailed. Bass is what you would expect from woofers this size. These speakers are excellent for listening to music or videos at low to moderate volumes, all day. They are not good at deafening volumes, which is great, as I always want to keep my sound below the level where it is causing damage. After trying many other computer speaker setups, I believe these are one of the best choices for good desktop sound in a small office, especially for the price. I’ve used them for over a decade and recently purchased a pair for my father. If they discontinue them, I’m buying a backup set.
