While doing some recording in Audacity on my Dell Laptop, I notice some popping on the audio track every now and then. Someone told me a higher sample rate might help that. This product (Creative Labs Sound Blaster Play! 3 External USB Sound Adapter) looked great and Creative Sound Blaster products have always served me well.
Plugged into the laptop and it worked perfectly.

Used this with Mint Linux, which took a couple settings changes in the audio settings to make it work consistently. Choose “Sound Blaster Play! 3 Analog Stereo” in the sound panel dialog, and it works fine. My amp for playback isn’t great quality, and we think the Soundblaster will sound even better through a quality system.
