Description
Dayton Audio SA100 100W Subwoofer Plate Amplifier Small but mighty!
The Dayton Audio SA100 high performance subwoofer plate amp module packs big-amp features into a compact chassis that is ideal for installation into cabinets that can’t accommodate bulky old-style amps. We made it small, but included everything that you need to connect the amp to your system and get maximum performance.
Input/output connections are through your choice of either line level RCA connectors, or speaker level banana jacks. A stereo input signal is summed to mono and sent to the internal low pass crossover, which is selectable from 40 to 180 Hz; the input gain sensitivity is fully adjustable as well. The SA100 also includes a phase reverse switch, which helps you to achieve the best acoustical match with the rest of your speakers. An Auto On/Off switch keeps the amp standing by, waiting for an input signal to turn it on. A large surface area heat sink is combined with internal overload, thermal, and short circuit protection so that you can expect years of reliable operation. KARL DELL –
I read multiple reviews where people needed to drastically alter the enclosure of the Polk PSW110 sub they were restoring. Maybe there were different builds sold by Polk, but mine required only to have the amp swapped and was a near perfect fit.
The Dayton amp weighs at least 8X what the OEM unit did. Clean sound. Loads of headroom. A glaring negative is the lack of an OFF switch. No matter what setting is selected, there’s power consumed. Albeit only a few watts, but over months this will add up.
The other negative is its lack of a “soft start”. When you turn on the power you must be certain that gain is dialed way down or you’ll get a nasty ‘POP’ from the driver engaging.
Perhaps it’s a bit nit picky considering the low price and ultimate performance?

The amplifier is little shorter and sifnificantly more narrow, but it worked pretty well in my dead Polk sub regardless, it helped restore it. Probably it’s little underpowered for Polk as a replacement, but this is what I needed for my Roland Fantom 8 setup. Another one little inconvenience, although not critical, the connectors didn’t match, so I had to solder the original ones.

replaced a similar amp that went bad. good fit with slight alteration, even though this one has less power than original it works well, pleased. Not pleased with the 3 delays for delivery by USPS
