I have a small office that I use for work every day and for gaming when I have the chance. I wanted speakers that would work with my KVM so I wouldn’t have to change cords or move speakers. The Katana V2X is perfect for this.
I’m no audiophile so take this with a grain of salt, the sound is fantastic from the sound bar. My only complaint is that the compact sub is kind of… worthless? It’s not self powered and even dialed up to +6 with heavy bass music it doesn’t add much. Now it is under my beefy SecretLabs Magnus Pro desk so perhaps that’s not helping, but even putting my hand on it I don’t feel much effect.

Nice sound. Sub is a little weak. You do need to use and equalizer to balance the sound but not bad out of the box. Works well for my setup. Does not replace high end speakers.

I have a pair of Creative Zen headphones and they sounded very good so I wanted to try their sound bars for my PC. I loved the digital USB connection (keeps wires to a minimum), the remote (every button press was registered correctly), and the subwoofer (quite compact and powerful).

But the deal breaker for me was the overall sound quality. Without using EQ preset the sound was a little flat (underwhelming). Using the EQ presets greatly improved the sound quality, but the presets only work well for certain type of music. This means I have to constantly switch between the different EQ presets when listening to different materials which was a really has

Picked this up to use for my home PC when I don’t feel like wearing my headphones and definitely very satisfied with my purchase. Although price-wise it is high, the build quality really backs that up – both the bar and sub seem to be very high quality. I’m not an audiophile by any means, but compared to other 2.1 systems I’ve used with 2 satellites and 1 sub, this sounds substantially better and easier to set up since I don’t have to worry about orienting the satellites to maximize sound based on where I am sitting.

The fact that it also has inputs plenty of inputs for use with many devices along with on-board Bluetooth is great.. The software for the system works very well, once I adjusted the equalizer to my liking it sounded even better. Despite it being a single relatively small sound bar with a sub, enabling 7.1 surround using my mobos on-board sound (Gigabyte Aorus with Sound Blaster X-FI MB5) actually does produce relatively good surround. The sub also hit’s very well, I have no complaints with it – produces plenty of bass if listening to music or gaming.

had the latest Klipsch 2.1 PC audio system, and it was fine although kind of bulky. I wanted something I could plug other devices into, and also clear up some desk space. I bought this as well as an inexpensive mount so I could mount it under my VESA-mounted 32″ monitor. It was surprisingly easy and looks great hanging in midair.

The sound improvement is staggering. Its like going from 2D to 3D or SD to HD. What used to be background noise in games has become atmospheric sound. It really adds to the immersion. More than once, I heard a noise and it took me a moment to realize it came from my PC, not an intruder or something. Its not true 5.1 of course, but I can’t imagine a better simulation than this soundbar.

With V1 this good, I can’t imagine how good the V2 is. For me, this thing is worth every penny.

I recently built a new computer as my previous computer that I had built in 2016 has reached EOL. I decided to put in a sound card in this new build, the Sound Blaster AE-5 Plus, and I wanted to take advantage of the SPDIF out option which led me down a bit of a rabbit hole into the world of speakers and sound bars.

My goal with purchasing a new sound system for my computer was to maximize the value and minimize the cost. From my research, this particular model does its job amazingly well, and at the refurbished price, it cannot be beat. It is a bit older, of course, so it does not have any HDMI capability but the optical input works perfectly well. The build quality is also insanely good. The housing on the sound bar itself is metal, the lighting looks incredible, and the remote is a very nice touch. It also gets super loud. I have the volume sitting at 5 right now, and that is probably pushing it if anyone else is home.

Super easy setup. Works great with USB or optical, just know you need USB for the connection for the Sound Blaster software. I use optical and then USB for the software connection (updating firmware etc…). The bass is as good as my older 10 inch Sony floor subwoofer. Technology has come a long way!

I have to switch between work PC home PC. It’s so nice to have PC speakers that come with USB connection. I came from 10 year old giant Logitech 5.1 PC speaker system. Found out it takes 11 watts even when powered off. And over 50 when on. Not exactly energy star. But this new setup is so simple sounds great and takes 6 watts. And zero when off. Just amazing. Should of upgraded years ago. And it has RGB. Others in house complain of bass so I have to turn it down. That’s how good these are.

If you’re looking for a powerful desktop speaker system that saves a ton of space on your desk, this is the perfect fit for you. The Katana fits very nicely under a monitor and doesn’t force you to place your 2.1 speakers over or under your monitor or around other stuff on your desk.
This is actually my 2nd Katana I’ve purchased as I wanted to use one with my 4K living room TV setup.

  10. Ryley

I could tell right out of the box that I made a good purchase. The material and craftsmanship are high quality. I’m not surprised because I purchased pc speakers from Creative over 10 years ago and they still work very well. I decided to build a new computer system and therefore upgrade the sound system with current technology. The setup was easy along with the software that works along side of the device. I’m very happy with the purchase and a loyal customer.

    This product exceeded my expectation!

Well made product. It felt premium when I took it out the box. This sound bar sounds better then my sound bar in the living room and that one is 3x the size. The tweeters on the sound bar and the base offers a crazy gaming experience . If you want to watch movies it offers a theater experience that sounds incredible

  12. Nine7Three

This turned out to be a much better experience than I was expecting. I got it on sale, at the right time, but I wouldn’t have been upset paying the regular price after hearing the quality of this product. …and, this system THUMPS! Very high quality sound and the volume is intense.

Highly recommended, especially if you have limited desktop space. It’s about 24″ long and fits nicely under my 32″ monitor There is also a nice RGB, but that isn’t of any interest to me, so I keep it off. There are many ways to connect this system as well. Huge plus.

Overall, a great experience out of the box that can be tweaked to your preferences. You can also really dial in the options with the creative app.

  13. Wyatt D.

Overall it’s pretty good compared to other PC speakers. I got this because it’s low profile compared to almost every other speaker (a simple 3 inches compared to others’ 8+, and since I’m using multiple monitors just putting them on the sides wouldn’t work). I’d say it’s a bit overpriced for what it is honestly but it’s really nice, still. RGB options are a bit limited and the reactive setting trails about 300ms to the actual sound, but it’s still not bad. My biggest gripe is that the volume is tied to the system volume, unlike speakers I’ve had in the past, so nothing goes beyond Windows/Mac’s 100% volume. It’s not necessary in my case, but it’s still annoying. I also don’t like that there are buttons for volume control vs. a dial, so I had to go third party for that. The preset EQ configurations in the Creative app are also pretty bad, so you’ll have to manually set the EQ. Once I customized the EQ and light settings, though, I was able to really enjoy this. The price is definitely higher than it should be, but for something low profile with a headphone jack in it compared to competitors, this certainly wins.
