You don’t buy this hoping it’s the best sound device you’ve ever heard. You buy this device because you need a usb dongle that can act as a headset adapter for teleconferencing (VOIP), listening to music, videos, etc. The audio software only works for windows, since it’s a gaming dongle. It’s pretty good. But I’m most impressed with it just dang works on all the platforms I’ve found a use for it on. The chip they use in this thing is well supported on all platforms right out of the box. The audio is sufficient to where I’m not complaining 1 bit. It gets the job done. It has support for the 4-pole headsets. The quality of the dongle is pretty good. I’ve broken a a few of the cheaper plastic non-wired variety which split the headphone + mic ports, and the casing always breaks open. They also usually have hissing noises. This case has already taken some beating and I would buy another one in a second if this breaks. It’s just so handy with laptops on various platforms.

Plugs in, is self- contained, and requires no additional drivers! This thing is GREAT! The sound quality is there, it’s just not as loud as you may be used to. (Direct comparison – plugged my headphones into it as opposed to the laptop output, and it volume level is definitely less.) But it works!!!
My audio output port finally cracked (I’m told that’s common in MSi Gaming laptops) and they want me to send it to them for repair. Since I use that same laptop for work, that wasn’t going to fly – so Sound Blaster X G1 was the perfect answer! I still plug in the headphones, just in a different location – and the sound quality (highs AND lows) is top quality! Since I write music on this machine from time to time, sound quality is extremely important! It’s not as loud, but the quality is still there – and that’s everything!

Right out of the package, the DAC is alright. It’s much better with the accompanying software… so imagine my disappointment when X-Mode didn’t recognize it on my computer! When I did some troubleshooting, I got an answer: use another operating system. Be aware: Windows 11 does support the Acoustic Engine, but it does NOT support X-Mode Configuration.

The product works great. My headphones have a mic 3.5mm and a audio 3.5mm and this came with the splitter and the sound card. It was a simple as plug it in and let windows install drivers and done. I didn’t like the audio management software from sound blaster and it made the audio sound terrible. I uninstalled it and it sounds great again. This is a great solution for me while I’m on a work trip and using my laptop.

For casual use this is okay as far as sound quality goes. In my opinion, it should be used for casual use because of the price point.
My issue is that the company continues to sell this device while the software is unsupported and unintuitive. I had to download the ‘BlasterX Acoustic Engine Pro’ from a third party website, because Creative’s links no longer work. I have to boot it up everything I restart my computer and configure everything, and the software is just a buggy mess where I can’t save any settings.
You kind of need the software to be able to do anything with this, so it’s pretty much a scam IMO to be selling it if you won’t keep your software up to date. I wouldn’t recommend any Creative items because of this.

My HyperX Alpha Cloud headphones stopped working with my PC windows 10. Older headphones worked but not my new HyperX. Could not figure it out. Maybe some upgrade in windows 10. So i started looking at external DAC amps. I bought this G6 dongle after reading a few reviews and thought it would do until i upgraded my Motherboard and computer. My Motherboard is 2014 vintage, although it is still a pretty fast PC with an RTX video card in it. I did not have great expectations for the G1 but i was very impressed . My mic works now. People can hear me. I dynamic improvement of the sound was huge. Obviously my motherboard sound is deficient. It was built on a Soundblaster Core 3di. I guess that things have improved a lot since then. For $28 this is well worth the money. Should have done it a long time ago. I am looking at moving to a G6 since now i am wondering if my speakers which are hooked up to the optical output on my computer are not giving me the sound that they could.
